Being in a subject like SAD1, SAD2 and ITP is very interesting and challenging, well I can say that when you are in the class of Mr. RSG you will really learn by yourself you will be force to do things that you think you can’t and learn the most fundamental thing in life which is discipline.

March 19, 2010 is a night were the upcoming IT and CS professionals meet. It is a fun day with full of surprises and learning’s. Many important people were there: my mother, my lover: Mary Jade Damondamon, her parents my favorite mentor, Randy Gamboa; and close friends.
I can really say that I have the competitive skills now to compete in the field of IT.

The overall presentation went well, my classmates have really done their part and the results were amazing. When I think of that event I can compare it to Google seminars where there are lots of foods and excitement.

Mr. RSG imparts us with some knowledge in his speech I learn that in a classroom the teachers are only there to guide the students and learn the basic things the rest is up to the students. I’ve been observing Mr. RSG for about 2 years I’ve been observing his actions and how he deals with his students. That night my conclusion has been answered. I still remember his statement when he said, “Gusto nimo hayahay, dili ka gusto ma dam-ag” that statement made me conclude that He wants us to engage in the IT field with great confidence knowing that we are capable in doing those things. The most important thing that I learn that night was the word discipline because it is very important to have discipline especially if you are going to work since it is the most basic but most important thing that we could acquire.

Over all the presentation of Uniisys is very good kaya dahil jan eto ang score ko “A+”. It’s our show a, It’s our time, Its Showtime!! :D

Evaluation of the Enrollment system

If I was tapped by the University President to evaluate the new enrollment system implemented this semester my comments and suggestions will be based on the facts that I observe and gathered last semester. Every enrollment period I experienced lots of complain coming from the students because of unorganized system of enrolling as I always remember I really hate 1 semester because of the freshmen and the line for the cashier is very long. I heard some complaints coming from different parties and I myself also complains too and give some comments about the childish system that this University have. This semester was a total shock in my part I noticed some changes I hope it was for a good solution but realizing in the end its still the same. I was discourage and end up going home and use my long time strategy whats my strategy?? Its for me to keep and for you to find out. I don't like to engage with this people taking a long line towards the cashier, man that is very time consuming in my part I won't fall for a line for that long but my strategy really works well that's why every semester I just laugh out loud! This is what I observe last semester based on the picture below.

I noticed that the diagram is very confusing, like in my case Old student their is an arrow going down, whats that? I now conclude that the long arrow going down means you have to fall in line for so long... hahaha Next, the scholar and a non scholar will meet in the cashier? I don't know if some recognized it but when I first glance it I was confuse about that part I don't know If I misunderstood that but if I misunderstood that it means its not very effective. That diagram must clearly elaborate what the students should do or to guide them for the procedures. I'm not totally against on that new procedures that they are having I'm just stating my opinion based on what I observed so that the next enrollment will be organized and the transaction is fast and smooth. I wonder why those guards are so harsh to students, first implementation of the system the guards act like they are the boss, wow whats that about? to prove something? These are the things that I observed during the enrollment procedure. My suggestion If they want an effective system they must first conduct a plan to analyze the problem then solve it. Having a knowledge from SE 1 and 2 and MIS 1 and 2 the best thing to do is to plan so that your steps will be guided. I have observed that falling in line from the cashier is the most complain of the enrollee.

I think the best way to solve this problem is to have a proper schedule of the events and have at least 3 cashiers every enrollment period. I have notice that their are only 1 or 2 cashier that are open that cause the delay. I also observed that their are confusion when coming to the registrar. The students doesn't know where to file the registrar. I have noticed that every college is no longer divided and assigned to a particular window meaning all the windows in the registrars office are free for every college department which I think is good.

I appreciate the arrangement of the enrollment this semester it was organize and balance but the line to the cashier is still the most complain of the students maybe it is good to add a cashier to accommodate the masteral and the students of the University. Lastly all I can say that the University is trying its best to come up with a solution but its still a long wait for that time to have a fast and organize enrollment. I hope the next time their are more improvements and they can distinguish the loopholes in the system so that the students will not be confuse hence they can fulfill their vision in the University

- Think about your approved/proposed systems, is it worth the three or more years of learnings you get from the university? Describe how you arrived with this proposal.

Honestly speaking, I can say that it is worth because as an IT student in this University I can help the school with my skills and considering the time left in making this system I can say that it can be a good choice. I myself choose this kind of project because i am curious about the challenge i will be facing in that department and I want to know how does the supply regarding the University really works.

- Following the SDLC model, please discuss the acitvities/steps that you will undertake in order to achieve your objective/s in life. what approach(es) would you use, predictive/adaptive?.. your own version of SDLC pls...

When answering this question It is difficult to come up with an answer especially when you did not experience this two approach but as what Ive read and understand with this two approach their are things that will be beneficial to one another thats why the combination with this two are develop because it will really help a lot.

For me to play safe I will choose the predictive approach it is like making a gant chart you have to follow a given goal or you must make an activity list in order for you to follow.

Known projects are best suited to predictive approach while evolving projects are suited for adaptive. because if it is a known project.

The outputs from predictive planning are expected and knowable, adaptive planning may yield surprising outcomes since Adaptive planning involves breaking a project into small components over an undetermined timeline to allow ultimate flexibility in directing the course of the project while predictive planning provides a linear, specific development plan structured around producing a pre-determined end result within a specific timeframe.

and using predictive mindset might choose to utilize a "waterfall" approach, adaptive teams may choose "agile" techniques but all these things depends upon the project that you will be dealing with as i said if the project is knowable i might choose the predictive planning if it is an evolving project adaptive is the best choice.

Assignment 3
- Among the data gathering techniques used in systems analysis are interviewing, document review, observation, and use of questionnaires. Considering your personality type, which of these would you be most comfortable with and why?

Upon choosing what kind of method I will choose I might choose using interview and questionnaire because making questionnaire is not enough and interview i consider it as a disturbance in the company because you are not really part of their day to day transaction that's why to solve it I must use the questionnaire and slight interview because the more data collected the more accurate will be the output of your project thats what i think it is and I think my personality can handle these things. I've experience interviewing and making questionnaire and I think Im ok with it.

Interviewing can also enhance the power of your interaction to people if you can face them it is part of building your confidence and it is also good because the source your getting and the data collected will be accurate and you can get some tips and strategies from them in dealing with your project thats why I think media is really interviewing people in order to know the truth but if you get the data from the wrong source then thats dangerous. Dealing with these two in data gathering will be enough I think as long as the data will answer all your questions.

- Regarding the consultation of our proposed system my team mates proposed the auction type of system like in davao sales but with MMS in order for the costumers satisfaction. The Consultation is very challenging but Im having fun with this proposal because I know this is not kinda hard to implement in the second period using only a database and some codes this will be done. I find it very interesting in my part because its been a long time since i stop making codes... The first proposal was rejected and this time we are already done with the proposal and my team mates are looking forward for the next consultation..

-MIS2 Plan to fail? or Fail to Plan?

Last Monday November 24, 2008 we started our reporting in MIS2 since their are some technical issues that arise in the presentation our Prof started to give us his .000001% tips and some advice to the class... hehehe Our Prof give us the things that we have to do in this subject and that is to come up with an SISP in our department IC (Institute of computing) since it contrast to the University VMGO. About the report it tackles more about the introduction and the problems that might occur in making SISP. SISP making has many factors to be considered the internal and external factors. In internal factors which is the S.W.O.T. or Strength,Weaknesses,Oppurtunity and Threat of the organization. The external side which is the STEEP or Political, Economical, Sociological, Technology and Environmental. I am worried about this subject since it is very hard and you must put some effort to it and this is my first time but as what the statement said people fail because they did not fail to plan but they plan to fail and I hope It won't happen. Kudos.

Assignment 1 - "Think about yourself worthy to be called as IT professional, how do you see yourself 10 years from now, what are your strategies to get there"

Being engage in Information Technology i am having fun with it. I know a lot of things and I know i'm advance with other people regarding our technology since it is a part of my profession. 10 years from now I think it is a lot of time for me to be called a IT professional my strategies to get there is to make a goal and to live with it. Having a goal in your life only shows that you have a dream in your life and it is a good challenge for us to have one. Align with it is my vision and mission of course you must have a mission and vision in order to achieve your goal. Lots of hard work and consistency in every job that was given to me. Being a student in this age i have lots of things to be learn and i believe that i can learn this things not only in school but engaging my self in the real world.

How will I see myself 10 years? That is a hard question, predicting my own future? hahaha.. But to tell you honestly, I envision myself to become a Database Administrator, as the saying says I live to teach, i don't teach to live. For me being a DBA is fun in my part, i really want to have some fun regarding my job that will suit me and i don't want to be trap inside a rat race that i think about 90% was being stuck up and doesn't know how to get their. For me, experience is learning and that is the biggest thing that you can learn in your life but i don't want to work hard to the point that im not enjoying what i am doing.. I really try to abide rules, since i know that obedience is the key to success.

What will be my steps? Ahm, first of all i will drink plenty of water, take my vitamins and rest so that i will be energized in making decisions. I must know my limitations and skills in order for me to have boundaries in my subject. to have a positive outlook in a give project is also a step
for me to consider. I must also make some strategic plans or some strategic moves in order to be there and fulfill it, it is very important to make a plan in order for you to be guided in the right direction thus, you will be sure that you are not fading away with your goal. When I was a kid i use to play with my dad and he really gives me some advice and tips in order for me to compete in this fast changing environment. I really don't know what to say regarding this topic since my "foolosphy" hahaha is not that wide enough to express myself and i dont want to explain much about my life but, as the rules says you must abide in the flow of this world. hehehe..

Be serious? Im not a serious type of person because i don't want to take myself too seriously..
If you ask me what will be the initial step to be there certainly i will answer that I will first graduate in this university then after graduating I will start to lead because I am a leader and everybody can be a leader, and that is a one way in getting closer to my goal.

before I start let me discuss first the meaning of Business plan and IS plan in order for us to know what should be the nature of Business plan and IS plan.

A business plan is a formal statement of a set of business goals, the reasons why they are believed attainable, and the plan for reaching those goals. It may also contain background information about the organization or team attempting to reach those goals. - wikipedia

Business-planning methods help staff develop detailed plans at lower levels. Business-driven data modelling methods then help them to identify their information needs, based on those developed plans. Identified information is then provided from the Information Warehouse.

IS plan focuses on the transaction of the business what will be the new trend and other stuffs. Having this to plan is very useful in order to have a successful business. Their are some techniques can be use in IS planning which is the SWOT ( Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) and STEEP (Social, Technological, Economic, Environmental and Political) IS plan also is used in order to align with its organizational structure.

The nature of IS plan and Business plan is to assure that IS plan is align with its business plan the nature of realtionship is:

- Tactical business plans should provide input for Customer Management
- Financial Management should be the second model view for tactical modelling
- Tactical business plans provide input to Financial Management
- Portfolio Management should be the third model view for tactical modelling
- Tactical business plans provide input for Portfolio Management.

Frustration are anywhere all of us experience this kind of dilemma in our day to day work IS professionals also experience this while working on the IS plan. As what ive learned from the lesson making a plan is very simple but the structure and the support behind it is very hard and complicated thing to do.

Consulatation is one of the frustrations that might occur in making the IS plan of course we must consult it in order for it to be accurate, getting the data needed, as we all know data are the source of all we have to analyze the situation through the given data that was gathered. Analyzing the data gathered, it is also one of the frustration that might occur since it is very tiresome to analyze the given data.

and P is for Planning.

Information system planning is the planning of information systems for the benefit and usage of an organization. It can also be defined as the identification and assessment the information needs of an organization and determining the systems, databases and technologies that best satisfy those needs.
While planning involves thinking ahead and designing future action, in the case of information systems, planning becomes a necessary tool to be able to systematically approach future uncertainties which can arise. The planning of information systems aims to put focus on efforts and resources on long-term, general objectives and at the same time, provide a foundation for existing short-term activities. Developing a plan for information systems provides an effective and organized framework for action.
Planning for the use of information system is an important step in achieving wise and efficient cost management and usage of technologies. For example, $300-700 million dollar corporations spend about 5% of their gross income on information systems and its corresponding supports annually. To compute, that sums up to approximately $15,000,000 to $35,000,000. A significant portion of these funds are used to support enterprise databases, a philosophy of database system applications that enable corporations to research the past, control the present, and plan for the future.
Despite the fact that an information system can have a cost ranging from $1,000,000 to $10,000,000, and despite the fact that most chief information officers (CIOs) can exactly specify how much amount of money is allotted for technological hardware, software, and staff, the CIOs cannot however specify and determine with any degree of certainty why a specific system is being developed for the present year versus the next, why it is being done ahead of another, or finally, why it is being developed at all. In this case, certainty of system development becomes a question.
Most existing enterprises, companies, and organizations do not have model-based information systems development environments that allow system designers to assess and inspect the benefits of rearranging an information systems development schedule. Consequently, the questions which cannot be answered include the following:
What effects will there be on the overall schedule if an information system is purchased versus developed?
At what point does it pay to hire an abnormal quantity of contract staff to advance a schedule?
What is the long term benefit from 4GL versus 3GL?
Is it better to generate 3GL than to generate/use a 4GL?
What are the real costs of distributed software development over centralized development?
The answers to these questions are not only needed now, but moreover, it is important and crucial to be able to generate them quickly, cost effectively, and in a form in which they can be modeled and changed in response to arising needs and unfolding realities.

Rather than choosing to develop centralized, long-ranged planning and management activities that are necessary to address these problems, today's existing business units are utilizing readily available tools to design and build ad hoc stop-gap solutions. These ad hoc systems not only do not interconnect, support common semantics, or provide synchronized views of critical corporate policy, they are soon to form the almost impossible to comprehend confusion of systems and data from which systems order and semantic harmony must spring. Not only has the computing landscape become profoundly different and more difficult to comprehend, the need for just the right--and correct--information at just the right time is escalating. Late or wrong information is worse than no information.
Information systems managers need to come up with a model of their information systems environment. This model must be one which is malleable. As new requirements are discovered, budgets modified, new hardware/software introduced, this model must be such that it can reconstitute the information systems plan in a timely and efficient manner.

B. ISP Key Activities, Planning Types, and Components

The information systems plan project basically functions to determine the sequence for the implementation of specific information systems. The goal of the strategy is to gather and deliver the most valuable business information needed at the earliest time possible and in the most cost-effective manner.

The end product of the information systems project is an information systems plan (ISP). Once implemented, the information systems department can deploy and use the plan with confidence that they are doing the correct information systems project at the right time and in the right sequence. The focus of the ISP is not one information system but the entire suite of information systems for the enterprise. Once developed, each identified information system is seen in context with all other information systems within the enterprise.

The first key activity into achieving the information system plan is identifying and describing the currently existing situation. This includes gathering and listing of the manual and automated processes, gathering and listing of the manual and automated data, technology inventory and human resources inventory --- all within the context of the enterprise in consideration.

The second key activity is identifying and describing the future situation. This includes all the blueprints of manual and automated data, technology, and human resources.

The third key activity is describing scheduling of the project, which includes the scheduling of manual and automated processes, scheduling of manual and automated data, technology of scheduling and human resources scheduling.

There are two types of information system planning types --- the top-down planning and the bottom-up planning. The top-down planning is a generic information systems planning methodology that attempts to gain a broad understanding of the information system needs of the entire organization. The bottom-up planning is a generic information systems planning process that identifies and defines IS development projects based upon solving operational business problems or taking advantages of some business opportunities.

C. Characteristics of a Quality ISP
An effective ISP must demonstrate five distinct characteristics before it can e classified as useful. These five distinct characteristics are presented in the table below:

Timely: The ISP must be timely. It must be created before or during the time when it is needed by the enterprise for processes. An ISP that is created long after it is needed is absolutely useless. In almost all cases, it makes no sense to take longer to plan work than to perform the work planned.

Useable: The ISP must be useable. It must be developed in the way to satisfy the requirements and needs of the enterprise.

Maintainable: The ISP must be maintainable. New business opportunities, new computers, business mergers, etc. all affect the ISP. The ISP must support quick changes to the estimates; technologies employed, and possibly even to the fundamental project sequences. Once these changes are accomplished, the new ISP should be just a few computer program executions away.

Quality: while the ISP must be a quality product, no ISP is ever perfect on the first try. As the ISP is executed, the metrics employed to derive the individual project estimates become refined as a consequence of new hardware technologies, code generators, techniques, or faster working staff. As these changes occur, their effects should be installable into the data that supports ISP computation. In short, the ISP is a living document. It should be updated with every technology event, and certainly no less often than quarterly.

Reproducible: The ISP must be reproducible. That is, when its development activities are performed by any other staff, the ISP produced should essentially be the same. The ISP should not significantly vary by staff assigned.

Failure to develop an ISP which satisfies these five identified characteristics results to the risk of the entire funds allotted for the ISP creation.

D. The WHY, WHO, WHERE, WHEN, and HOW of the ISP

Why is there a high need to plan information systems? ISPs are created to help ensure that the information systems complements and assist in the achievement of the goals and execution of processes of organizations, businesses, and enterprises. ISPs also ensure that the use of resources is maximized within the business, and the benefits of changing technology are utilized to the optimum. Furthermore, ISPs help take account of the different viewpoints of business professionals and IT professionals.

The development process of the information system planning is most commonly done by information system planners, system analyst, variety of stakeholders, and the top management commitment.

To when and where ISPs are needed and highly efficient can be determined by several factors. ISPs are best for any organization, enterprise, and business that have the interest of getting the best out of its investments in information technology. Any organization which is facing problems, or grabbing opportunities are highly recommended to realize the great potential of information technology planning. Lastly, ISPs can be used in organizations wherein information systems have failed to satisfy and address huge, diverse and complicated information requirements of their users.

How ISPs are developed can be started by several steps. Looking and investigating the business structure, function, processes, culture, and existing in the organization under consideration is important. Having broad idea of what type of business processes is taking place in the organization can give major clues as to what type of technology and methods can be utilized to further develop a plan to achieving more efficient technological processes within the business. Looking at the available technology is also an important step. Carrying out interviews with the business/organization personnel (both IT and non-IT), and with IT experts can also be helpful in the development of efficient ISP. Development of policies and application portfolio can help in the deployment of the ISP. Planning for schedules of migration and implementation is also an important step.

Assignment 4 - Identify and discuss the steps for "critical success factors" approach?

Engaging in this assignment, first of all let me discuss what is a critical success factor is and how will the company use this in their advantage and to gain success. CSF according to the definition in the net are the essential areas of activity that must be performed well if you are to achieve the mission, objectives or goals for your business or project. This critical success factor is really needed in order for the business to know what kind of relationship they will gonna deal with their customers. By identifying your Critical Success Factors, you can create a common point of reference to help you direct and measure the success of your business or project. CFS must be aligned with the strategic goals. management leadership is the second critical sucess factor that is needed.

As a common point of reference, CSFs help everyone in the team to know exactly what's most important. And this helps people perform their own work in the right context and so pull together towards the same overall aims.

Critical Success Factor (CSF) is a business term for an element which is necessary for an organization or project to achieve its mission. They are the critical factors or activities required for ensuring the success your business. The term was initially used in the world of data analysis, and business analysis. Key success factors generally include exceptional management of several of the following:

* Product design
* Market segmentation
* Distribution and promotion
* Pricing
* Financing
* Securing of key personnel

Step One: Establish your business's or project's mission and strategic goals

Step Two: For each strategic goal, ask yourself "what area of business or project activity is essential to achieve this goal?" The answers to the question are your candidate CSFs.

* Industry - these factors result from specific industry characteristics. These are the things that the organization must do to remain competitive.
* Environmental - these factors result from macro-environmental influences on an organization. Things like the business climate, the economy, competitors, and technological advancements are included in this category.
* Strategic - these factors result from the specific competitive strategy chosen by the organization. The way in which the company chooses to position themselves, market themselves, whether they are high volume low cost or low volume high cost producers, etc.
* Temporal - these factors result from the organization's internal forces. Specific barriers, challenges, directions, and influences will determine these CSFs.

Step Three: Evaluate the list of candidate CSFs to find the absolute essential elements for achieving success - these are your Criticial Success Factors.

As you identify and evaluate candidate CSFs, you may uncover some new strategic objectives or more detailed objectives. So you may need to define your mission, objectives and CSFs iteratively.

Step Four: Identify how you will monitor and measure each of the CSFs.

Step Five: Communicate your CSFs along with the other important elements of your business or project's strategy.

Step Six: Keep monitoring and reevaluating your CSFs to ensure you keep moving towards your aims. Indeed, whilst CSFs are sometimes less tangible than measurable goals, it is useful to identify as specifically as possible how you can measure or monitor each one.

These steps will help you upon thinking what will be your critical success factor that you will gonna apply in your company these things are essential and needed in order for the company to come up with a goo critical success factor because as what the definition says that critical success factor or CSF will be the basis on the success of your business or the establishments.

- In the spectrum of organizational change, which is the most radical type of change: automation, rationalization of procedures, business reengineering, or paradigm shifts?

For me in my opinion based on my research in the net the term "paradigm shift" has found uses in other contexts, representing the notion of a major change in a certain thought-pattern.

I think "paradigm shift" is the most radical change that will happen in personal beliefs, complex systems or organizations, replacing the former way of thinking or organizing with a radically different way of thinking or organizing. Based on the image posted by hannah it shows already that paradigm shifts is commonly the highest at risk since the company will have to change somethings in maybe 360 deg. of changes so their are some risk at stakes however these risks can be handle by planning and good team work in the company.

- How can you determine if outsourcing is advantageous to your organization? Would you recommend outsourcing to USEP?

In my own opinion In order to determine if you need to outsource the first thing to consider is the in house workers and the budget involve. In the case of Usep I can say that at this point in time it is still good to use outsourcing in order to save a lot of time and money. I know that the money envolved in outsourcing is really big but if the university will use insourcing at this time their are only few workers regardless of tapping the students. So it is still appropriate to use outsourcing I think the problem of using outsourcing is the money that will be spend and the system is not editable but using insourcing will save a lot of money if the workers are many and is appropriate to the job.

The Mystery Case File of Uncle John!

well, well, well this topic is not a detective case i just make this title to catch the readers who are interested about some case files anyway this is about my dream innovation i hope you like this post and please leave some comments... =)

Our world faces a new era today we have seen lots of innovation and new technology trends. We enjoy engaging with this new gadgets like cellphones, ipod, laptops and other stuffs, yet people are still not satisfied in what they have and possess thus upgrading takes into place. Man, life today is very easy you just need to press a button and bingo you have already send a message or simply swipe to pay your bills wow! that's good, but as what they say with great technology comes a great consequence. looking back in the other side we have seen the deteriorating environment and we cannot deny that the main contributor with this environmental change is our technology today. happy and sad that's how we feel today were happy with this new technology but were sad because of our environment but Green Computing takes into account in order to save the environment. We have seen lots of strategies in order to protect the environment but many people still do not abide on it including myself sometimes i fail to follow it. Being an IT is very hard especially if your task is to make an innovation that can contribute to the community and at the same time it has a least consequence.

Crime Scene Investigation, you can run but you cannot hide! be aware, Watchmen is watching!

We have seen so many crimes today and we have seen that it is one of the major problem not just in our country but globally, If I were to make an innovation it would be a "Watchmen Satellite" It is an AI in which it is coded with lots of probability that a crime will occur in a certain area thus the crime will be stop before it will take place. I get this idea from the film Minority report and it is a cool thing to know a 0% crime rate... hehehe Although I know that this thing is very impossible but with globe everything is possible... just making a joke here! hehehe. Anyway through that satellite it can also solve crimes that happen a long time ago just input the crime scenes situation and every possible angles of the that crime when it is done you input the possible suspects of the crime that is identified. For example Uncle John has been murdered in his house and his Last Will and Testament is missing, who might have thought to steal the will? in this case, through this information the watchmen satellite will watch every moves of the suspects involve thus, it will know who steal the will of Uncle John. The satellite will serve as a brain of every crimes that took place and the more crimes he solve the more probability that his IQ will increase because in every crime people have motives in making that crime thus their is a chance that their are two motives that are similar, in this case the satellite will have an idea in solving it through his past similar crimes that had happen. This Satellite will serve as a Secret Agent in every police department and I get this idea from watching the anime Detective Conan. Base on that anime this innovation came in to my mind but we cannot deny that if you are a possible suspect you will be on a surveillance mode. thus every move will count even you are in CR, taking a bath every thing is being recorded in order for him to get the smallest detail in the crime but you must not worry because your confidentiality will not spread and your photos in taking a bath will be erase if the AI will see that their is no detail in that aspect. The job of the detectives is to analyze the given conclusion of the machine and if they see that it is accurate then the Mystery case of Uncle John is solve!

Grudges in your Brain! watch out! Clean it before it is too late!...

My next innovation that will introduce is somehow has a connection on the first but this time it is called a "Brain Scanner" through this scanner it will serve as a lie detector test it will be use to reassure that the conclusion made by the watchmen Satellite is really accurate if the possible suspect has already been identified by the watchmen satellite it will send all the information of the suspect including its residency. If it is already identified the brain scanner will take place this how the machine works in my own perspective view.

Example you have Identified two suspects named "Suspect Alice" and "Suspect Sally" they have the same motives to kill uncle John thus the thing to know who is the real culprit is to use the brain scanner it will record all your memories in a certain situation. So to identify the real suspect it is very hard since they say you can pass easily the lie detector test today by controlling your heart beat and your emotion and we cannot deny the fact that their are many who bypass the lie detector today, but with this scanner if you ask a question about the crime scene we cannot deny the fact that with a second glimpse everything will flash back in our mind and the brain scanner already identified the real suspect before he change his mind and think about other things to avoid remembering what have he done in the CASE of UNCLE JOHN. Wow, that's a very good thing to hear a 0% crime rate and to know that the death of uncle John has been given a justice and the real suspect is really identified! The law of this machine is never to harm man and keep the privacy of a person involve in the surveillance and lastly never make a conclusion without a real evidence.

Great things really Happen!

For me, it is very fun to solve some mystery case and I dream of becoming a great detective but it is only a dream who knows for they say that if you have a dream it may come true if you have a mission and vision.. hehehe.. Hmmm, I guess pushing this kind of project the suspect will think twice if they will pursue their crimes or not for God is not the only one watching the suspects but also the watchmen.. I guess people will appreciate this kind of thing but as I said this "PROJECT WATCHMEN" is a confidential it means only the tough people in the police department knows that PROJECT WATCHMEN exist and we cannot also deny the fact that some hearsays will arise in this project but as long as its in the outer space and rockets will still be expensive in that time PROJECT WATCHMEN will remain confidential and mystery in every lives of man.

My Conclusion!

Hmm, having read and making this assignment it is really fun, and being an IT student and to come up with this innovation it is really good and a great challenge for me to pursue this kind of innovation. Their are lots of innovation that we can think and some are already mention by my classmates just read their story in case you have time and you will be amaze on the ideas that came up with their puzzled minds!! hahaha .. na puzzled bya jud ko ani!! kamo gi sunggo pud mo noh? Imagine 2000 words! hehehe..

Assignment 3 - Relate significant events in society to innovations in technology.

Mysteries left unsolved

Living in this kind of world in this kind of age where great innovation is evolving we have seen lots of innovation today, we enjoy engaging with this kind of stuffs like cellphone, laptops, computers, iphones, ipod, psp and other cool stuffs but with this kind of innovation lies a mystery on how it started and when did it start. For me innovation exist through a narrow thinking of everyman, it exists in order to flow in the trends of this world and meet the needs of every person in order for man to live a happy, fast, simple or to shorten it a perfect life. Man wants to be perfect we have seen this back in the garden of eden Adam as what the bible say created as a perfect human being and that is why it is imbued in us that we must achieve perfection in our lives we fight for it and everyday we live with it and everyday man continues to struggle and his existence has a probability that will lead to great innovations. People innovate because of some reasons like they really want it or to solve some monstrous problem or they did it because they just want to be famous, name it all! these are some reasons how innovation takes into account. Significant events in the country is also a reason why people innovate just as what my fellow classmates said in their earlier posts that the historical 'war' that took place in this world about a thousand years ago is an example of a significant event that lead to some innovations like making atomic bombs and other war crafts! These event marks a scar not only in our lives but also in our technology and in our history today. Who can forget Albert Einstein who formulate the equation E = mc2 or best known for his theory of relativity, his existence really gives a lot of contributions in out technology today.

About this topic i thought that their are some significant events that leads to innovation like in the field of medicine. The smallpox scare that was first seen in northeastern Africa around 10,000 B.C.E. is an event that scares the whole world and we cannot deny that their are lots of people who lost their lives with this deadly virus and because of this event the vaccine takes into account their are some innovations that occur in order to solve this kind of problem. Today, Cancer is one of the deadliest known disease in the whole world no one is excuse not to have this kind of illness if it strikes you, you better watch out , you better not cry! many research has been made and many innovations took place one of this is what they called the nanotech-laser which can kill cancer and preserve healthy cells. Scientists at Stanford University have developed a new laser therapy that destroys cancer cells but leaves healthy ones unharmed. The new, non-invasive treatment is described in a study published in the Aug. 1 online edition of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).

Through this cancer cells the nano-technology was seen and was develop and they say that this innovation may be the key to solve the ever feared CANCER and may be the fountain of youth. Wow, i'm really shock about this statements and who will ever thought that this will happen in my history and I think that innovations are a key in order to see the great wonders of God and we cannot deny the fact that in this world no one knows the history of man and only God knows what have happened in the eternity past. Well, this is only my observation and my own opinion in this topic.. Well, well, well the field of medicine really contributes a lot about our technology today we have seen this x-ray machines laser therapy and even robots today is being use in a surgical operations and complicated stuffs like heart transplant i've seen a robot who performs the operation but of course behind it is a man controlling the robot.

Innovation is really evolving and it continues to evolve based upon the motives of man and some environmental change. If their is something fishy that will happen expect that innovation will take place just like in astronomy people are curious about these lights in the sky and it becomes a hearsay to everyone and out of curiousity man innovates telescope and even rockets in order to see what is the mystery behind this lights in the sky... Man, this world is full of mysteries and we are not force to unlock all these mysteries their are some that is meant to be keep and let the history flows with it. Technology is one of the key in solving these mysteries, mysteries that might become a significant event in our country and to the whole world. But we must put in to account that these significant events are needed in order for man to see the beauty of this word they called "LIFE". We cannot deny the fact that technology is needed in our day to day agendas in order to save time and effort but we must no become slaves to it. technology is made in order to solve the problems but on the other side technology might become a source of a new significant event in the whole world only time will tell.

Our world faces a new era today an era were high-technology arises weve seen it in our naked eye touch it with our delicate skin and even hear it with our gentle ears but as far as im concern we know that behind these things and unique gadgets is a deteriorating environment, weve experience some climate changes today their are some disease that spreads rapidly and were aware that this technology is a big contributor with this drastic climate change! bulag ka ba? or nag bubulagbulagan? but eventhough we know all these things weve heard this so many times, weve read some articles regarding this and that and eventhough weve experience the effects of it still man is really stupid! hehehe and im one of it.. Man wants to go faster, send message in less than a second , he wants to be finished in his job as soon as possible in short man wants a perfect world thats why technology arises in order to solve mans problem but look at our environment look at you look at yourself in the mirror, did you question whats really important? technology? or our environment? man these questions are really hard... According to some articles the e-waste is really harmful to our environment and to us people but we continue to be blinded by these things patay-mali kung baga!

As an IT student

I cannot deny the fact that Im the one who is destroying the environment im one of these people and it is really frustrating to know that and to know that my course has something to do with this freaking stuffs! what the heck! but this is my destiny and all i have to do is to find ways on how to minimize the effect of this technology in our environment. Im one of the supporters of green campus computing and I love this kind of act because i know it will really help us in facing this global change brought by these technology. Technology always change and Everyday I think their are new gadgets that we can see in the market and we became fan a of these things. The question is what lies ahead in the future? and are we ready for these changes? Honestly speaking while I was browsing the internet I was amaze in the technology that ive seen especially this one:

well, well, well if this issue will be solve what a great thing to be teleported in one place to another. It seems that the prediction of a teleporter is really comming soon.. Lets just see if it will solve some ethical issues that will arise.

In the field of Environment i will discussing about the modular homes

These modular homes can be a better place to live in with a 100% environment friendly materials it will be a cool place to built and to stay you are enjoying the environment as well as the place you are staying.

Lastly in the field of medicine: People really aspire to stay young and bet you the fountain of youth is somewhat getting closer to our planet, well some scientist continue to seek the fountain of youth through the use of the medical technology and if they become successful well i think will become like benjamin button... hahaha.... Preparing for these changes is a must in order for us to adapt these kind of technology some of us might not understand and some will try to understand but for me I guess the best preparation for me to do is to know the informations in these gadgets that will arise the more Information you have the more you will understand its use we cannot tell maybe these gadgets will bring harm or not in our society so i will better study these technology for the purpose of knowing what lies ahead...

This is my first time to read and watch the SONA of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo (GMA) tnx to this subject MIS.. hehehe

Based on what I have read and heard in the SONA these are the topics she discussed regarding ICT.

-I think cutting down to 50 cents is really a big help for those who really wants to text and engage in this kind of activities. But in my case who does not text that much it is not that kind of big deal but if we look in a global perspective or as a whole it will help that much and really is a big cut and we can save money from it. At least the text message is down in this kind of age where the fuel price is increase. We can still enjoy the beauty of life.. hehehe =)

CURRENT STATE OF THE UNIVERSITY'S INTERNET CONNECTION

First of all lets discuss first and analyze the problem:
Our main objective is to improve the internet connectivity in USEP.

Lets discuss the wants of everybody:
*We want a fast internet connection
*We want to download files
*We want to see online streaming videos
*We want to upload files
*We want to play online games

In short we want to get the most of the internet because thats the purpose of the internet to know some stuffs.Excluding(Porn sites it is really a violation)
All these things can be solved in increasing the bandwith and that's what USEP is doing now.

Current solution they use to improve the connectivity:
Increase the bandwidth

Problems they might encounter after increasing the bandwith:
A.1Controlling PW,SW,HW and the money involve.
-More users will use the computer lab for it is already fast.
-More users will engage in uploading and downloading files.
-More users will watch streaming videos.
-Budget for maintaining and adding bandwidth.

Therefore I conclude that increasing bandwith is not the best solution for the university for it will spend a lot of money to increase the bandwith in order to satisfy the wants of everybody and take note: "USEP has a low budget regarding these things" it will cause a domino effect that will still results in a low net connectivity.

My Suggestion:

In my opinion as an IT consultant the University can solve this problem for we already have the resources we are only blinded because of our laziness.

First we must make a simulation model for us to be guided. (role of IT = Collaboration of IT teachers and students: it depends)
Reconstruction of the wirings and testing for accurate speed for the internet maybe there are some interference that hinders the traveling of data
(role of an Engineer: Collaboration of an ECE and EE Teachers and students: it depends)
Centralized the data it means that all department will just access the proxy server in order to get a data using a cache

Therefore, proxy servers are able to increase the speed of your connection to the Internet. The cache of a proxy server may already contain information you need by the time of your request, making it possible for the proxy to deliver it immediately. The overall increase in performance may be very high. Also, proxy servers can help in cases when some owners of the Internet resources impose some restrictions on users from certain countries or geographical regions. In addition to that,
among proxy servers there are so called anonymous proxy servers that hide your IP address thereby saving you from vulnerabilities concerned with it.

My own Formulation regarding the Problem:
Fiber optics + (the test made by ECE and EE personel) = 99.9% free from interference
Proxy server + (99.9% free from interference) = fast net connection and fast traveling and retrieving of data.

Next about our hardware problems because they say that a slow hardware can cause a slow intrenet browsing.
It is not necessary to force the university to buy a new set of desktop computers if we ourseleves doesn't know how to take care
of our computers in the laboratory. I think the computers in the laboratory is somehow ok the only problem is how to maintain it. What are the reasons behind the damage computers in the lab. lets analyze it.

Cause of the problems
*(1.1) Virus Problem ----- source *infected USB and Virus in the NET
*(1.2)Damage due to over use of the computers.
*(1.3)Not handled properly
*(1.4)Laziness of the students
*(1.5)The students already forget the safety measures they read for a long time.

Probable solution:

Regarding (1.1) Virus Problem

*Disable the USB port
Effect = (1.1.1) Some will protest in this idea
Solution regarding (1.1.1 Some will protest in this idea)
Enabled the USB PORT WITH CONDITIONS
-enabled the usb port only if the usb has less than 50 mb files (for fast scanning of anti virus).
-If a virus was detected the owner of that USB will pay a fine for every virus that was detected.

*Maintain a monthly or weekly check up for Virus updates and for the hardware problems or simply use a FOSS Operating system for a virus free OS

Regarding (1.2 (Damage due to over use of the computers), (1.3 (Not handled properly) and (1.5 (The students forget the safety measures they read for a long time) )

*Make a start up page regarding the schools regulation and safety measures in connecting to the net instead of directly connecting it to google or yahoo site

*Maintain a monthly or weekly check up for some hardware problems

Regarding (1.4) Laziness of the students

*Encourage them to do their part through blogging and online forum or seminars in school.

All these things can be attained if all the members will cooperate and do their part to maintain the internet connectivy in the University.

for me, i think these are the barriers in IS/IT. First, the lack of education simply explain that engaging in IS you must be knowledgeable in order for the system to work well. Lacked of facilities is also a barrier for the it is needed to make some production. All these things are just examples for the barriers in IS/IT. We know that through these barriers it will make the system more stable. A big goal with little resources is also a barrier, if you make a big system you must ensure that your facilities will cater the system that you will make for it will simply waste the time and the project that you will be making.. the examples that ive given simply state that barriers brings a positive and negative reaction in making IS/IT.

Why do you think IS/IT systems fails?

in the middle of the project they have encountered these problems thats why an IS/IT system

TOPIC # 2 FOSS (Free Open Source Softwares)

Open source Softwares is hitting the IT world today based on my observation and a little research from the net, for it competes and works similarly to those softwares with license. Linux OS is one example, you don't have to buy a license that might cause you to crack a software or can bring you to jail.
Some schools today still uses a pirated microsoft copy and other license softwares for they
say that it is a friendly user softwares. Yes it is true, open source softwares are not quite friendly for it uses some hot keys and other stuffs, if that is the case the school can educate the students to explore
the open source softwares and provide them some tutorials that can be download in the net.
I think the student now a days can easily adopt to these softwares for I have try some softwares
that works great. GIMP,blender,yafray,inkscape all these softwares are free and the school can save
money from it without a guilt feeling of using a pirated softwares. Conducting forums, seminars
and other counselling related to open source softwares like (FOSS) is one way to enlighten the minds of the students that open source softwares are good, we can make the most out of it and less computer security is needed because almost computer virus runs only in microsoft. The school can also download or get the copy from reliable source and install it in the laboratory for exploration and testing for it's functionality. The school can also include it as a subject because open source world is a big world and I know some day it will hit globally. The school may also collaborate to other schools who supports open source and build a team like in our org the PSITS we can tackle and promote these open source for it is a blessing. KUDOS!..

As I first read the assignment I was shocked because I know that our school
needs this kind of project and I am happy that I have given a chance to
suggests ways for my school to adopt it. Base on my observation our computer laboratory consists of so many desktop computer but unfortunately these computers has some deffects I have read that their are computer stores that buys old models of desktop computers and some parts of it for them to resale it. The school can sell the computers that has deffects to these stores to gain a little money out of trash. We all know that we cannot just throw away these old computer to the trashcan beacause it has a lead content that can harm us. The school can also use these old models of computers or has deffects for IT students to know some hardware parts for actual and practical purposes. For the new computers and those who still in good condition the school can save electrical consumption by teaching and giving orientations to students on how to save energy in the laboratory. Building a forum and organization of green campus computing is a way for the school to give lectures to students and gives a harmony between the environment and our campus.

Computer Viruses are present in this world today,It cause a lot of trouble in our PC-DOS computer
but in this research it talks about how stable are the computer virus in this age and to the upcomming generation. The survey that was taken talks about that computer virus nowadays can be prevented easily. Computer education and some information is only needed just like putting anti virus and calling a technician to fix it. As the world moves on, the problems of computer virus degrade and this research talks about the prevalent of the computer virus to the upcomming years. A battle between new virus and anti virus. How stable it is or the existance of it will end in the near future. Base on my observation computer virus is easily be cured through anti virus and being educated in school, I myself also knows
how to create simple computer virus using batch file programming, vbs script and hitting the registry, these are the common virus that will hit you in the usb but i already know these stuffs so i can esily distinguish a virus. This study is about the understanding the propagation and the wide spread of computer virus theoretically.
By epidemiological model they can see the producton of the computer virus, its variety and its population that was infected and lastly the condition of an epedemic that might occur. As a conclusion that they made, using anti virus is still the best way to prevent the epidmemic of computer virusin our world today.
